Haiti
country profile

Haiti became an EIF beneficiary country in June 2008 and started undertaking preparations for a Diagnostic Trade Integration Study ("DTIS") with the World Bank as Lead Agency. Preparations to launch the DTIS in 2010 were halted with the January 2010 earthquake. The impact of the earthquake forced Haiti to prepare an Action Plan for National Recovery and Development, presented in March 2010 to development partners and subsequently endorsed. With the support of development partners, Haiti started to execute the plan, which includes the EIF implementation as part of its recovery and reconstruction strategy. Haiti had developed a pre-DTIS project that halted with the impact of the earthquake. The EIF in cooperation with UNCTAD, the UN Cluster for Trade and Productive Capacity, and the World Bank will continue to support Haiti in its EIF implementation and launch of the DTIS.
