Uganda undertook a Diagnostic Trade Integration Study ("DTIS"), which was validated in October 2006. Subsequently, Uganda benefited from one IFTF Window II project, Trade Capacity Enhancement Project ("TRACE"), that aimed at promoting trade mainstreaming and coordination of trade policies and related technical assistance. The project operationalized and strengthened the National Implementation Arrangements ("NIAs"), including the National Implementation Unit ("NIU"). The TRACE project was replaced with the EIF Tier 1 project, the Second Trade Capacity Enhancement Project ("TRACE II") that contributes to the fulfilment of the EIF objectives and programmes in Uganda and supports the Government’s trade development agenda. The DTIS results were incorporated into Uganda's National Trade Policy ("NTP"), Trading Out of Poverty Into Wealth and Prosperity, the National Trade Sector Development Plan ("NTSDP") 2008/09-2012/13, and the National Development Plan ("NDP") 2010/11-2014/15. Uganda is submitting Tier 2 project proposals and a DTIS update project.
