Yemen
country profile
Yemen joined the IF in 2001, and undertook a Diagnostic Trade Integration Study ("DTIS"), which was validated in June 2003. As a result, Yemen benefited from three Window II projects which were implemented between 2004 and 2009, which included; (i) Fisheries Quality Control for Export Promotion; (ii) Fruits and vegetables Export Promotion and Quality control; and (iii) Strengthening Industrial and Trade Registration capabilities. Under the EIF, the National Implementation Unit ("NIU") in Yemen has been set up and Yemen has submitted its Tier 1 project "Support to NIU/FP core functions in order to implement the Enhanced Integrated Framework" which was approved in July 2009 with the implementation phase starting in September 2009. Since November 2009, Yemen has prepared and submitted four Tier 2 project concepts to the EIF addressing Action Matrix priorities from its DTIS that have remained valid priorities.
