Zambia undertook a Diagnostic Trade Integration Study ("DTIS"), which was validated in July 2005. As part of a wide consultation among the in-country IF stakeholders in 2005, the IF was integrated as a component of the Private Sector Development Reform Programme ("PSDRP"), and the DTIS Action Matrix was the framework of all related trade aspects of the PSDRP. Zambia submitted a Tier 1 project, "National Implementation Unit Sustenance and Capacity" which was approved by the Board in February 2010. The project's main objective is to enhance the capacity of the Ministry of Commerce, Trade and Industry to effectively and efficiently manage the EIF process; to sustain the NIU and enhance its capacity to fulfil effectively its role as an anchor for all AfT‐related activities and programmes under the Ministry and act as the Secretariat for the Trade Expansion Working Group, which performs the role of EIF Steering Committee. Zambia has also submitted two Tier 2 project proposals.
