The purpose of the project is to address trade constraints through specific mainstreaming projects in line with the implementation of the National Trade Policy Framework.

Results

• The first National Trade Policy Framework was developed and launched in March 2015.

• Incorporated trade into the National Development Strategy 2011-2020.

• Incorporated trade into the sector strategies for agriculture, tourism and fishing, and commerce.

• The EIF National Implementation Unit supported the Solomon Islands Women in Business to participate in the Digicel Women in Business Expo in Papua New Guinea. This helped the women to network with relevant organizations and to access new markets, both domestically and internationally.

• 3 National Implementation Unit staff have been integrated into the Department of External Trade.

• A National Trade Facilitation Committee was created and endorsed by the National Trade Development Council to coordinate on trade facilitation issues and implement the provisions of the WTO Agreement onTrade Facilitation.
