Heidi Schroderus Fox

Ambassador, Permanent Representative of Finland to the United Nations, World Trade Organization and Conference on Disarmament

Ambassador Schroderus Fox has previously served as the Director of the Office of the High Representative for the Least Developed Countries, Landlocked Developing Countries and Small Island Developing States (UN OHRLLS) from 2012 to 2023. In this capacity, she recently served as the Executive Secretary of the United Nations 5th Conference on the Least Developed Countries, in Doha, Qatar.

Ms Schroderus Fox joined the Ministry for Foreign Affairs in 1988 and has previously served at Finnish missions in Paris, Washington DC, Tel Aviv, Pretoria and New York. She served as Deputy Permanent Representative of Finland to the United Nations in New York from 2006 to 2010. During her work for Finland, she has made significant contributions in the areas of intergovernmental policy dialogue, partnership building and negotiations. Earlier in her career she focused particularly on Security Policy, Arms Control and the Middle East, chairing many international negotiations relating to these issues.

In 2010-2011, she served as the Head of Policy Issues for the Office of the President of the United Nations General Assembly.

Women at the Rwanda border

Most of Rwanda’s cross border traders are women and rely on cross-border trade as their sole source of income. According to a recent assessment by Pro-Femmes/Twese Hamwe, the Rwandan umbrella organisation for women’s associations, most cross border traders have experienced not only a large loss in revenue due to border closures but also a complete depletion of their savings.

Abha Calindi

Abha joined the EIF as Communications intern in August 2020 and supports the social media team. A Swiss national, Abha is bilingual in French and English. She has previously worked as a research intern at BBC Hardtalk. Abha holds an MPhil International Relations and Politics from the University of Cambridge, and a bachelor’s degree in History and Politics from the University of Warwick.

Fidelis Eyoh Ukume

Fidelis is Programme Officer for results, monitoring and evaluation at the EIF Executive Secretariat. In this role he provides technical support to EIF countries on M&E and ensure the quality assurance of EIF project evaluations. He also contributes to strengthening of the M&E function at the Programme level. Fidelis joined the EIF Executive Secretariat as a Monitoring and Evaluation Support Officer in January 2020. Prior to joining the EIF, he had over 4 years of experience in international development management and evaluation through his past experiences at the Independent Development Evaluation Department of the AfDB in Abidjan, the ILO Evaluation Office in Geneva and the GIZ. Fidelis brings solid technical knowledge in project management, results-based management, results monitoring and evaluation and M&E capacity building. Fidelis holds a Master of Science in Development Evaluation and Management obtained from the University of Antwerp, Belgium and a Master Degree in Governance and Regional Integration from the Pan African University & University of Yaounde II, in Cameroon.
