Institutional Capacity‑Building Project

The project's main objective is to support Myanmar's integration into the international trading system in order to reduce poverty and promote sustainable development.

Results

  • The third meeting of the Trade Sector Working Group (TSWG) was held on 15 September 2015 in Nay Pyi Taw and was attended by 70 representatives of Government ministries and 34 representatives of Myanmar’s Development Partners (DPs). TSWG’s meetings were very important for the development of the trade sector, especially for effective donor coordination.

Trade Development/Sector Support Project: Support for the revival of the palm oil sector in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (Appui à la relance de la filière palmier à huile en République Démocratique du Congo)

The goal of the project is to support the rehabilitation of the palm oil value chain in the Mayombe region of DRC. Production techniques and commercialization systems will be improved to produce more palm oil of higher quality.

 The project is aiming to have the following impact:

Trade Development/Sector Support Project: Improving Export Competitiveness of Vanilla, Ylang Ylang and Cloves (Amélioration de la compétitivité des exportations des filières vanilla, d'ylang ylang et girofle)

The purpose of this project is to improve the competitiveness of three export sectors (vanilla, ylang-ylang and clove) through strengthening institutional and technical capacities of producers and exporters to play a more active role in the commercialization of their products on international markets.

The goal of the project is to increase exports by strengthening institutional capacities to formulate and implement national trade strategies and policies. As a result of these trade strategies, Mozambique will be able to realize poverty reduction, inclusive growth and sustainable development.

  • Conducted a mission to 6 of 11 provinces with four objectives:

    • Present the EIF and its current status to provincial stakeholders.

Trade Development/Sector Support: Projet de renforcement des capacités commerciales de la filière Gomme arabique tchadienne (PRCCFGAT)

This project supports the diversification of the Chadian economy by strengthening the country’s gum arabic sector through a value chain development approach with the overall objective of reducing poverty through income and employment creation.

Trade Development/Sector Support: Strengthening the Production and Marketing Capacities of Arabic Gum Value Chain Project

The project is working to reduce poverty by increasing the revenue of producers, collectors and exporters. The project is centered in six regions, including some of the most vulnerable provinces of Mali. It is also part of regional efforts to create a “Great Green Wall of Africa” with the goal of halting the advance of the Sahara desert. This is significant for Mali because over 60% of Mali’s total surface area is already either arid or semi-arid.
